CSU / UPI Chapter
OFFICES to be ELECTED

From the UPI Constitution: "The officers of each chapter shall include but not be restricted to a Chapter President, Chapter Vice-President, and a Treasurer. Chapter officers shall be elected by the membership of each Chapter to a three-year term of office at the same time as election of the local officers."

Term of Office for all Positions -- 3 Years, from the beginning of the Fall 2009 Term and to the end of the Summer 2012 Term.


CSU CHAPTER PRESIDENT

Job Description:

The president shall provide leadership in executing the policies and objectives of the chapter and UPI.

The president shall preside at all meetings of the Executive Board, the Leadership Council, the Chapter House of Delegates and the membership as a whole.

The president shall, with the approval of the Executive Board, appoint the chairpersons of all standing and ad hoc committees, the chief negotiator and the negotiating team.

The president shall serve on the UPI Local 4100 Executive Board, with the specific responsibility of facilitating communications between the chapter and UPI.

Time Commitment: Approximately 50% time.

Compensation: 6 CUEs per academic term plus 3 CUEs for summer work.

CSU CHAPTER SECRETARY

Job Description:

The secretary shall prepare minutes of the meetings of the Executive Board and the chapter as a whole.

The secretary shall help in the preparation of the chapter newsletter.

Time Commitment: Variable.

Compensation: None.

CSU CHAPTER TREASURER

Brief Job Description:

The treasurer shall keep records of all receipts and expenditures of chapter funds.

The treasurer shall maintain and provide accurate unit, member and nonmember lists for the chapter and for UPI.

The treasurer shall provide written financial reports to the chapter and to UPI, at least quarterly.

The treasurer shall prepare an annual budget for approval by the Executive Board.

Time Commitment: Approximately 12.5% time.

Compensation: 3 CUEs per year.

UPI EXECUTIVE BOARD REPRESENTATIVE

Job Description: The executive board representative shall serve on the UPI Executive Board, with the specific responsibility for effective communication between the chapter and UPI.

Time Commitment: Approximately six one-and-a-half-day meetings per year and occasional other Local 4100 leadership activities.

Compensation: 3 CUEs per year.

CSU CHAPTER VICE-PRESIDENT Unit A --- Unit B / Faculty --- Unit B/ASP --- Unit C

Job Description:

In the event of the temporary absence of the president, one of the vice-presidents, to be determined by the executive board, shall assume the duties of the president on an interim basis.

The vice-presidents drawn from the tenure-track faculty, Unit B faculty, the academic support staff and the IT staff shall have the responsibility for effective communication between their respective group and the chapter.

Time Commitment: Variable.

Compensation: None.

House of Delegates Members (23 Slots Available)

Job Description: The responsibilities of a chapter delegate shall include but not be limited to those prescribed by the UPI House of Delegates.

Time Commitment: One day-and-a-half-day meeting per year.

Compensation: None.
