Appropriate
Delivery Systems for Courses

WHEREAS
each individual university faculty member is responsible for setting
and maintaining academic standards and curricula; and
WHEREAS
faculty by training and experience know best which teaching methods
work effectively to help students learn; and
WHEREAS
faculty require the freedom to design course materials and incorporate
different modes in order to teach courses to the best of their
abilities;
THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED that each individual faculty member should
have the exclusively right to determine appropriate delivery systems
for all courses in their own academic disciplines; and
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that UPI should negotiate appropriate
contract language to guarantee this right and should work with
the IBHE to insure faculty authority to determine appropriate
delivery systems at all Illinois public universities.
