Tuition Waivers for Dependents and Domestic Partners

WHEREAS: the 50% tuition waiver/discount is a fringe benefit for dependents of faculty and staff at Illinois public institutions;

WHEREAS: faculty at Western Illinois University enjoy a fringe benefits package that is only 75% of what colleagues in their IBHE peer group enjoy;

WHEREAS: faculty at Chicago State University enjoy a fringe benefits package that is only 66% of what colleagues in their IBHE peer group enjoy;

WHEREAS: faculty at Eastern Illinois University enjoy a fringe benefits package that is only 61% of what colleagues in their IBHE peer group enjoy;

WHEREAS: faculty at Governors State University enjoy a fringe benefits package that is only 51% of what colleagues in their IBHE peer group enjoy;

WHEREAS: faculty at Northeastern Illinois University enjoy a fringe benefits package that is only 76% of what colleagues in their IBHE peer group enjoy;

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: that UPI urge the IBHE, the Legislature and the Governor to support the passage of legislation that provides that faculty and staff at public universities receive 100% tuition waivers/discount for dependents.

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: that UPI urge the IBHE, the Legislature and the Governor to support the passage of legislation that provides that faculty and staff at public universities receive tuition waivers/discount for spouses and domestic partners.
