The EIU Center for Gender and Sexual Diversity host a ribbon cutting event to open the new Trans*formation Station on Tuesday.
From 7 to 9 p.m. in EIU’s Sexual and Diversity Center, which is in the basement of Stevenson Hall, people were welcomed with snacks such as cupcakes, chips and drinks.
Gender and sexual diversity officer John Blue was there enjoying the event. He said that it isn’t really a ribbon cutting but more like an open house for the new room.
“It was really just a reopening of the newly construction space of the room. It’s much more user friendly,” he said.
Years before, the transformation station was just a closet and a bit stuffy, according to graduate student and GSD assistant Theo Edwards, but now that it’s built, Edwards said it gives students the opportunity for more space and, of course, more clothes.
