Changemakers
At the end of the Spring 2023, Changemaker Fellows from GSU, NEIU, and MATC convened at NEIU to present their basic needs insecurity advocacy plans to AFT President Randi Weingarten.
GSU and NEIU Changemaker Fellows attended and presented about Fast Funds at the 2023 UPI 4100 House of Delegates meeting.

The Changmakers at NEIU identified two main objectives in regards to Advocating on behalf of the student body in an effort to increase Basic needs assistance on campus. We plan to influence Union decision makers to advise members of the union to amend their syllabus by including a brief summary of the F.A.S.T. fund as well as clear instruction on how to apply and donate to the fund.
We also will work with Quinti Rios Perez in order to create opportunities for Students to access the on-campus food pantry at expanded hours, citing that the food pantry is only open on the main campus, 2 days out of the school week, and unavailable during weekends.
These two goals will work to increase the utilization/donation to and general awareness of the F.A.S.T fund as well as increase the utilization of the food pantry among the population of students who may not have been able to utilize the pantry due to its current hours of operation.
