Bargaining update. We had our first real movement from the administration yesterday, with the university putting forth a proposal agreeing to put locks that allow for easy locking inside the classroom in case of danger. This was due to the work of our membership at the most recent Board of Trustees meeting, including history professor Dr. Nathan Kapoor sharing his very real concerns about the safety of our students and faculty. This movement shows the critical role of the membership in moving the administration toward our position. It will be vital for all members to actively participate to get the contract we deserve.
It’s clear from yesterday’s sessions that we need the membership to show up to move the administrative team towards the contract we deserve. Please come to bargaining on Friday, August 23 to show the administration we want a fair contract NOW, not on their timeline!
